Professor Neale is a cancer epidemiologist with a long-standing interest in skin cancer, vitamin D, and balancing the harms and benefits of sun exposure. She is the principal investigator of the D-Health Trial, a randomised controlled trial of vitamin D supplementation in which 21,315 were recruited and supplemented with vitamin D for up to 5 years. In light of her understanding of both the harms and benefits of sun exposure, she leads the health working group of the United Nations Environment Program Environmental Effects Assessment Panel.
