After a PhD in neuroscience in 1995 (Lyon, France), Francois FERON worked as a researcher at Griffith University and Queensland Mental Health Research (Australia), where he co-demonstrated the key role of vitamin D during neurodevelopment. In 2005, he was appointed Professor of neuroscience at Aix-Marseille University (Marseille, France) where he assessed the therapeutic benefits of vitamin D supplementation on the symptoms of neurodegenerative diseases or trauma of the nervous system. He also compared the expression of VDR and PDIA3 in almost all cerebral cell types. He is the co-founder and director of AMU PhD program in neuroscience (2013), International Master in neuroscience (2014) and Graduate School in neuroscience (2018). Coordinator during 2 years (2020-2022) of the European university CIVIS (consortium of 11 members), funded by the European Union, he is now deputy director of NeuroMarseille institute (9 research laboratories) .
