Speaker Bio
Dr. Cohen is an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Engineering at VCU. Trained as a physician, Dr. Cohen is a full time researcher. His work demonstrated a correlation between breast cancer hormone receptor status and bone resorption. These studies examined how estrogen stimulation of the membrane receptor ERĪ±36, present in triple negative breast cancer cells, remodels bone via osteoclast activation. Additionally, we have examined the effect of 24R,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 on cancer aggression based on estrogen receptor status. Lastly we have examined estrogen receptor status as a prognostic indicator in laryngeal cancer.
