Speaker Bio
Reagan Moseti Mogire, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral research fellow specializing in medical biochemistry, molecular biology, and genetic epidemiology. Earning his Ph.D. in Genetic Epidemiology from The Open University, UK, in 2022, he also holds an MSc in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, and a BSc in Medical Biochemistry. Dr. Mogire's research has focused on the genetic and epidemiological aspects of vitamin D deficiency, uncovering novel genetic variants in African populations. At the Kenya Medical Research Institute-Wellcome Trust Research Programme, he investigated vitamin D's role in malaria and bacterial infections in African children. Currently, at the CRGGH, his work delves into the impacts of vitamin D on cardiometabolic traits, particularly liver function and metabolomics, in African and African American populations, with the goal of enhancing health outcomes in genetically underrepresented communities.
