Speaker Bio
After completing my PhD in Italy, where I investigated the potency of vitamin D analogs for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, I joined the Institute of Genetics, Molecular, and Cellular Biology (IGBMC) in Franceā€”an internationally renowned institute for nuclear receptor research. My group is dedicated to elucidating the pathophysiological role of vitamin D signaling employing relevant preclinical mouse models and human samples, and state-of-the-art methodologies such as single-cell and spatial transcriptomics. Our work led to significant contributions to the field, including uncovering the repressive activities of the unliganded vitamin D receptor and the identification of a novel mechanism underlying its nuclear translocation. Additionally, we have characterized the activities and structure-function relationships of more than 30 vitamin D analogs. Most recently, our research has provided major insights into the role of vitamin D signaling in prostate cancer progression.
