The 2024 Vitamin D Workshop will be chaired by Drs. Kevin Cashman and Mairead Kiely of University College Cork, Ireland. The conference will kick off with a Welcome Reception in Devere Hall on Tuesday June 25 where you can pick up conference materials and connect with colleagues over food and drink. Scientific sessions will begin on the morning of Wednesday June 26 in the Boole Theatre Complex and conclude at noon on Friday June 28. A Networking Reception and Dinner with music will be held in the historical Aula Maxima on Thursday evening.
The scientific sessions will include platform presentations, invited speakers, short communications, panel discussions, flash poster talks and poster presentations over 2.5 days. Abstract submissions on all aspects of vitamin D biology are welcome. While the program details are still being finalized, three major themes are planned, with each encompassing basic research, clinical impact and public health aspects.
Theme 1: Disease pathogenesis, prevention and treatment (respiratory illness, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer)
Theme 2: Healthy life-course (reproductive health, perinatal outcomes, brain development, aging)
Theme 3: Prevention of deficiency in clinical & public health settings (supplementation, dosing, food fortification). This will include review/discussion of newly released Endocrine society clinical guidelines and FAO-WHO recommendations.
